Greetings! It is I, "The Black Pearl Poet" and I believe it has become necessary to rearrange some things within the way I communicate my thoughts. You see, what were now beginning to understand as adults of color is that we have yet to translate, what we now know about life in America as a person of color into an actual learning process for our children of color overall.
I feel it more appropriate to change my approach because of the time of year to try and conduct a more classroom like setting since there are several among us who have dedicated most of their adult lives to educating and change, hope and promise, a brighter day, and a better tomorrow.
I believe by doing this, it would be better understood by many more, the obvious importance and significance of making sure that all students of color within our public-school systems around these United States of America within these inner city and certain rural area public schools are getting better educated about themselves first, at a much higher rate than they are now, or have been in the recent past.
We know what needs to be taught to these children of color, our children of color, within these inner cities and certain rural area school systems, but we have yet to demand a specific curriculum put into place and taught to these children of all colors.
There are so many students of color who do not understand that in this life, there will always be bigger plans in store for them that are made by others, plans bigger than any plans these children of color will ever have for themselves.
These plans more often than not involve an existence created and based off a historical foundation of substance that vaguely include the "People" of color responsible for these current students of color being here.
So, with that I would like to be more appropriate by beginning things as we would in this life. What usually comes first in the formal process of educating within the public school system is Kindergarten. So...
Come along my gifted children, pull up your chairs and listen close.
It's necessary, you pay attention, you see you might hear talking ghost!
Now, do not misunderstand the words you just heard, these ghosts are not going to say boo...,
No, I'm speaking of a ghost from within the spirit, who is ready to greet you!
Now believe whatever you like, it's your choice whatever you choose,
this is your life to live, but this is also our legacy we must give, as well as lose.
So let us get started with our day of exploration and we'll try to have some fun,
we are going to do this with words and imagination and a plan that does not include guns.
It's a big world out here and you children of color are falling further and further behind,
the reasons why can be one in a million but with the truth we've been walking a fine line.
So, children understand one thing, we must pay close attention to what is being taught,
because from here we go back to the strength of our ancestors before they were caught.
Every land considered to be home had a shore from which its people stand,
but from our newfound origins we people of color look out from a distant and foreign land.
Now someone said along the way, "we got a plan to keep us from going astray",
what wasn't shared in the plan was why our Africanism had to go and stay away.
This story is not a tale to be confused with the many shared while in school,
the difference being that out of these classrooms we are not sending home educated fools.
You see our young and gifted children you are our future and what we will become,
so, you must be focused and pay attention because it is you the next important thing will come from.
Our time has finally arrived, and we must get prepared or prepare to fade away,
this is our time as a people of color in this land of the free this is not just another day.
They say we live in the home of the brave and that is who we are hoping will answer the call,
willing to stand for the many past children of color who have suffered a devastating fall.
So, hear my plea, my children of color and know you have a mission at hand,
this is your quest to adulthood and to re-establish your place in a foreign land.
So go forth boldly knowing your destiny is beyond this place you now know,
but as you travel and move along your path, remember there is always room to grow.
May the voices you hear lead you, guide you, and keep you away from harm,
but if you hear a voice, you do not recognize, but it sounds familiar, do not be alarmed!
Listen close and listen hard my child, to hear all you can for as long as you can,
so, you can understand the difference between a boy and a girl, a woman, and a man.
Now the time has come for you to take your place among the tribe from which you hail,
our Black people have grown completely tired of having to visit our young people in jail.
It is time to build up our communities and rebuild our legacy in this life,
others need to stop telling our story for us, we must eliminate the strife.
You are just beginning children and there is much work you must do,
so let this be your first lesson on this quest to reclaim your name, God will see us through.
So, as I end class for the day and we all go in our separate way, please allow me to say,
May God be with you & yours; May God be with me & mine, in God's arms we stay, this I pray.
The Plan! Where did it go..............?
